In May this year, Colombia was welcomed by CRIRSCO as their twelfth member. Colombia now joins Chile and Brazil as the third South American country with a recognised code for reporting Mineral Resources and Reserves. MBGS congratulates the Colombian National Mining Agency (ANM) and the newly formed Colombian Commission for Resources and Reserves (CCRR) in this important achievement. It was a pleasure for MBGS to have provided input into the process through the participation of our MD, Kerry Whitby and Senior Geologist, Karol Patino over the last two years at different stages of the preparation of the Code with the ANM team in Colombia. The Colombian Standard of Mineral Resources and Reserves (ECRR) used the CRIRSCO template for guidance and introduced specific clauses in the document that dealt with emeralds, an important gemstone resource in Colombia. The CCRR was established to provide a regulatory base for Colombian technical specialists to report as a Competent Person for resource/reserve assessment and reporting services to the Colombian Mineral Industry.
