A consulting geologist for over 40 years, Kerry joined MBGS in 1972 and became Managing Director in 1998. Kerry has been involved in coal exploration and mining projects throughout Australia encompassing target identification, exploration, project evaluation, and due diligence reviews. Kerry has developed extensive experience in the world’s major coal producing countries including; United States, Canada, China, Indonesia, South Africa, Colombia, Burma, Malaysia, Mongolia, and Mozambique. In recent years Kerry has been involved in iron ore project evaluations in Australia, Africa and South America. Kerry has a wide range of experience providing independent advice to mining companies and financial/investment institutions within the coal industry, particularly resource reporting in accordance with the JORC Code.

Since co-founding MBGS in 1970 John has developed a career spanning almost 50 years. John has been responsible for implementation and supervision of coal exploration programs, technical reviews and audits of coal resource reports and exploration activities throughout the world. Leading mapping projects in Antarctica during the 1970s is one of John’s career highlights. John has exceptional knowledge and experience within the coal producing regions of New South Wales, Queensland, Western Australia, Tasmania and numerous other coal basins in New Zealand, Canada, Indonesia, Mongolia, New Guinea and Thailand. He has completed resource reports in accordance with JORC and due diligence studies for numerous operating mines and projects and is a highly respected geological consultant in the coal mining industry.

Charles has been a consulting geologist for almost 40 years. He has been extensively involved in initiating exploration proposals and implementation and management of drilling programs in the coal industry. He has compiled feasibility studies, technical geological reports, due diligence reviews and technical documents for stock exchange listings. Charles has extensive experience in coal basins throughout New South Wales, Queensland, Tasmania, South Australia and Western Australia. He has also been heavily involved in open cut and underground coal projects in Thailand, Kalimantan, New Zealand, Philippines, China, Mongolia, South Africa and Siberia.

Rob has over 35 years’ experience in the mining industry, spending the first five years of his career undertaking gold exploration in Papua New Guinea. After joining MBGS, Rob’s focus has been coal exploration and development in Australia and overseas. His expertise spans exploration program design, supervision and project management from concept through to mine development. Rob has experience in open cut and underground coal mining operations, project appraisals and due diligence reviews for numerous projects. He has extensive experience working in Australia’s two major coal basins, the Sydney and Bowen Basins, as well as minor coal basins such as Laura and Maryborough basins and overseas in Indonesia and Mongolia. Rob has also undertaken project evaluation work in a number of iron ore deposits in Western Australia, West Africa and Indonesia.

Rowan has diverse geological experience having worked in the coal, oil shale, uranium and oil and gas industries with Bridge Oil in the 1980s. Rowan joined MBGS in 1989 specialising in exploration, mine development and mine support. He has a strong focus in the coal industry both in Australia and overseas and has been instrumental in developing several greenfields coal deposits through to mining operations, being heavily involved in prefeasibility and feasibility studies. Rowan has a sound technical background and an extensive knowledge of all Queensland coal basins.

Janet has been working in the mining industry for 20 years. For the first five years of her career Janet worked in the Hunter Valley undertaking coal exploration and underground services. Since then Janet has worked on many coal projects in New South Wales, Queensland, Tasmania, and Western Australia. Janet’s international experience includes New Zealand, Mongolia, Mozambique, South Africa, Canada, Colombia and Indonesia (including two years working in East Kalimantan at one of the world’s largest mines).  Janet has developed specialised skills in computer geological modelling, data management/review, geological interpretation and model auditing.
