Two of our senior geologists, Ruth Henwood and Stacey Pell, will present a paper at the 2017 Sydney Basin Symposium. The presentation focuses on a structurally complex coal deposit in the NSW Hunter Valley that experienced end wall failures as a result of small changes in joint orientations. Acoustic scanner data was used in conjunction with in-pit mapping to identify joint sets that could impact end wall stability. The paper highlights the ongoing solutions that are being implemented to optimise mine life and improve productivity.
