In late November 2016, our Managing Director, Kerry Whitby, attended two days of technical meetings with the Colombian National Mining Agency (Agencia Nacional de Minería – ANM) where he presented a number of discussion papers dealing with the JORC Code and its application in coal deposits throughout the world. The purpose was to assist ANM with one of their current tasks – the development of a Colombian Code for Reporting Resources and Reserves based on CRIRSCO fundamentals. The code would be applicable to the very large and commercially significant deposits that occur throughout this mineral-rich country. Kerry was invited to attend due to his wide experience using the JORC Code for reporting of coal resources around the world and in particular his experience in coal mining and exploration projects in Colombia.
