MBGS has worked in coal deposits throughout a number of Spanish language countries in South America including Venezuela, Chile and most notably Colombia. Our first job in Colombia was in 1995 when MBGS assisted Glencore with its acquisition of Prodeco (including Calenturitas Mine and Cerrejón Central). Over the last 20 years, MBGS has developed a strong affiliation with Colombia. Our geological staff (including Colombian nationals) have travelled there on approximately 100 occasions to assist our clients with services ranging from exploration supervision and management, geological interpretation, 3D geological modelling, technical audits, mentoring local geologists, JORC resource estimation and strategic advice to senior management. Our knowledge of Colombian geology and coal resources is now very extensive, having worked in the country’s main coal basins in Cesar, La Guajira, Santander and Norte de Santander. We have also carried out technical reviews in other basins in Cundinamarca, Boyaca, Antioquia and Valle del Cauca. Visit our new Spanish-translated website at www.spanish.mbgs.com.au
