Karol has over 15 years’ experience in the mining industry with a strong field exploration and computer modelling background. The first five years of Karol’s career were spent as a field geologist in the Coalfields of NSW. Her experience then extended into supervision and management of coal exploration programs in Australia and overseas in Canada and Colombia. Karol has specialised skills in building geological models (3D faulted models) using Minex, Vulcan and Minescape software. These skills have been acquired over more than 10 years of building geological models of many Australian Coal deposits as well as deposits in geologically complex areas around the world including the Canadian Rockies, Colombia, Mozambique and Mongolia. Karol has also undertaken numerous project due diligence assessments, coal resource estimations with reports in accordance with the JORC Code and technical reports prepared in accordance with the Valmin Code.

Doyle is a seasoned geologist who has been exposed to a diverse range of exploration and mining activities within the resources industry, ranging from early-stage greenfield projects to fully operational mines. Over the course of his career, Doyle has contributed to technical evaluations for deposits across the globe providing detailed geological insights and support, which has included assisting with Expert Witness cases. Doyle’s strengths lie in technical evaluation, exploration planning, geological modelling, and resource estimation. As a member of the AusIMM Doyle is a Competent Person for Coal Resource estimation and reporting. In August 2024, Doyle was appointed Company Director at McElroy Bryan Geological Services, where with our fantastic team, he strives to evolve and enhance one of the industries longest serving consultancy services.

Since co-founding MBGS in 1970 John has developed a career spanning more than 50 years. John has been responsible for implementation and supervision of coal exploration programs, technical reviews and audits of coal resource reports and exploration activities throughout the world. Leading mapping projects in Antarctica during the 1970s is one of John’s career highlights. John has exceptional knowledge and experience within the coal producing regions of New South Wales, Queensland, Western Australia, Tasmania and numerous other coal basins in New Zealand, Canada, Indonesia, Mongolia, New Guinea and Thailand. He has completed resource reports in accordance with JORC and due diligence studies for numerous operating mines and projects and is a highly respected geological consultant in the coal mining industry.

A consulting geologist for 50 years, Kerry joined MBGS in 1972 and became Managing Director in 1998. Kerry has been involved in coal exploration and mining projects throughout Australia encompassing target identification, exploration, project evaluation, and due diligence reviews, and has experienced a wide range of mining developments and opportunities in the world’s major coal producing countries that include; United States, Canada, China, Indonesia, South Africa, Colombia, Mongolia, and Mozambique. Kerry has a wide range of experience in the provision of independent advisory services to mining companies and financial/investment institutions within the coal industry and in particular, coal resources reporting in accordance with the JORC Code. In recent years Kerry has been involved in iron ore project evaluations in Australia, Africa and South America.

Rowan has diverse geological experience having worked in the coal, oil shale, uranium industries as well as in oil and gas with Bridge Oil in the 1980s. Rowan joined MBGS in 1989 specialising in exploration, mine development and mine support. He has a strong focus in the coal industry both in Australia and overseas and has been instrumental in developing several greenfields coal deposits through to mining operations, being heavily involved in prefeasibility and feasibility studies. Rowan has a sound technical background and an extensive knowledge of all Queensland coal basins.

Janet has been working in the coal exploration and mining industry for 25 years. For the first five years of her career Janet worked in the Hunter Valley undertaking coal exploration and underground services. Since then Janet has worked on many coal projects in New South Wales, Queensland, Tasmania, and Western Australia. Janet’s international experience includes New Zealand, Mongolia, Mozambique, South Africa, Canada, Colombia and Indonesia (including two years working in East Kalimantan at one of the world’s largest coal mines).  Janet has developed specialised skills in computer geological modelling, data management/review, geological interpretation, auditing of geological models and resource estimation.
