Congratulations to Charles Parbury, Director & General Manager at McElroy Bryan Geological Services (MBGS), who was recently listed in the long-serving members list of the AusIMM.
Charles has 40 years’ experience in the resources industry, specialising in coal for the majority of that time. After graduating from Macquarie University in 1977 he started his working life as a rig geologist logging boxes of core sent to Sydney from a Hunter Valley mine. He then spent the next several years working in Queensland on the early stages of German Creek exploration through to development of the mine.
He has been a Director of MBGS since 1988 and has worked in all major coal producing basins in Australia, including extensive experience in the Hunter, Bowen, Gunnedah and Surat Basins. Internationally Charles has worked around the world, with career highlights including several years in Thailand working at Mae Moh Mine from early exploration to production, working on multiple projects throughout Indonesia, China and Mongolia and more recently an interesting review in Siberia.
Through this diverse range of projects and deposits, Charles has gained a comprehensive knowledge and understanding of exploration needs, geological technical issues and coal resource estimation.
